The American Board of Bariatric Medicine (ABBM) has changed its name to The American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). The name change is a result of an initiative that united ABBM with the partnering organizations formerly unified by The Obesity Society (TOS).

The 2012 Certification Examination for Obesity Medicine Physicians will be administered November 3-17, 2012 at computer based testing centers throughout the country. The 2012 Policies & Procedures, along with application, will be posted at www.abom.org in February 2012.

ABBM Diplomates will be recognized by the ABOM and will be awarded new certification status. New certificates will be mailed in March 2012.
ABBM Candidates will also be recognized by the ABOM and will be able to proceed with the full certification process required after successful completion of the written examination.
